The white and black territories show the extension limit of Tibetan civilisation before 1950. It is also called “historical Tibet”. The white territory shws the official Tibetan territory between 1914 and 1950.
The independent Region of Tibet, created in 1965, administrative region of Chinan Popular Democracy, is the only one recognized by China.

Historical Tibet

Tibet has a suface of 2 500 000 km² meaning four and a half bigger than French surface. It represents one quarter of chinese area. The medium altitude is 4 300 meters and the highest top is Everest (Chomo Langma) with 8 848 m.
Ther are 6 million Tibetans and 7.5 millions Chinese who are Hans -most important ethnie in China.
By means of comparison the total number of Chinese is now 1 milliar 300 millions of inhabitants.
2 million Tibetans live in the independent part of Tibet, whose capital is Lhassa.
Tibetans mostly speak Tibetan and are Buddhists, precisely from vajrayâna obedience. Of course Chinese is the official language in this part.
Their chief of state and spiritual guide is the 14th Dalaï Lama, banned in Dharamsala in India.
We can say that 190 000 Tibetans are exiled. Most of them are in India, Nepal and Bhoutan.
